Sam Olando is a trained urban sociologist and lawyer in the social justice sector. He has engaged in socio-economic rights advocacy at the national, regional and international levels. He has made major contributions to the development of policies, legislations and regulations on land governance and development from the lens of defining solutions for urban informality and rights of vulnerable communities in the ASAL areas. At the global level, he has worked with United Nations Committee on Economic and Social Cultural Rights countries on the Universal Periodic Review with a bias to access to land and socio-economic rights by the urban poor, The African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR)and the Economic and Socio-Cultural Rights Network (ESCR-NET).
