KUF 2025

KUFII 2025

The Kenya Urban Forum 2025

Kenya Urban Forum 2025 will build upon the outcomes of WUF12 by aligning global urban development priorities—such as inclusive planning, climate resilience, and sustainable infrastructure—with Kenya’s specific urbanization context. Drawing relevance from the First Kenya Urban Forum resolutions, KUF 2025 seeks to create a participatory space for policymakers, urban planners, private sector stakeholders, and communities to collaborate on locally driven solutions.
By localizing the global urban agenda, KUF2025 ensures that Kenya's urban future is guided by international best practices while remaining responsive to the unique challenges and opportunities within our cities and towns.
KUF2025 theme is “Driving Kenya's Vision for Urban Transformation through Inclusive, Resilient, and Sustainable Development,” and aims to:

  1. Facilitate Knowledge Sharing – Provide a platform for stakeholders to exchange insights on the current state of urbanization globally and locally, fostering informed decision-making and policy development.
  2. Strengthen Multi-Level Collaboration – Enhance coordination and partnerships among national, county, city, and municipal governments to advance sustainable urbanization and integrated urban planning.
  3. Leverage Global and Regional Urban Agendas – Reflect on key takeaways from the 12th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF 12) and strategize Kenya’s effective participation in WUF 13 (2026) to align with international urban development frameworks.
  4. Assess Climate Action and Urban Resilience – Review the outcomes of COP29, Kenya’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and the National Climate Change Action Plan, identifying opportunities for urban resilience and climate adaptation.
  5. Enhance Institutional Adaptive Capacity – Strengthen the ability of urban institutions to respond to climate change, socio-economic shifts, and emerging urban challenges through innovative policies, financing mechanisms, and governance frameworks.
  6. Promote Stakeholder Engagement and Best Practices – Offer a collaborative space for urban sector stakeholders—including government, private sector, civil society, and academia—to exchange experiences, best practices, and innovative solutions for inclusive, resilient, and sustainable cities.
