Dr Daniel M. Giti, PhD

Dr. Daniel Mutegi Giti holds a PhD in Urban Management; Master of Urban Management and Post Graduate Diploma in Housing Administration (PGDHA) from the University of Nairobi and a BA, 2nd class upper Division in Geography major & Sociology minor from Egerton University. He is trained in Strategic Leadership and Development Programme (SLDP); Senior Management Course (SMC); International Project Management & Resource Mobilization, Project Management & Environmental Impact Assessments & Audit (EIA/EA). He is practicing EIA/EA/SEA/SIA Expert registration number 8194 and a Public Private Partnerships (PPP) Expert registered by APMG International. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), where his roles include overseeing the day-to-day management of the Commission's affairs; ensuring the organization fulfils its mandate to foster peaceful co-existence and provide expert advice to the government on cohesion-related issues, and performing such other functions as may be assigned by the Commission and the law.

Previously served as a Deputy Director, Enablers, at the Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat from December 2021 to March 2025, and was an Assistant Director for Housing (Slum Upgrading), State Department for Housing and Urban Development, from 2009, rising through the ranks from Housing Planning Officer to an Assistant Director. As Deputy Director Enablers, he handled public sector management and transformation; Resource mobilization; Infrastructure; ICT; Energy; Science, Technology Innovation; Land reforms; Public sector reforms; national values and principles; peace building and cohesion; and ending drought and emergencies. In Housing and Urban Development, he handled housing, housing infrastructure and urban development process in Kenya; Environmental management and governance and application of Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) for development.

He teaches at the University of Nairobi, Department of Architecture and Building Science; Strathmore University and Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI). He has published widely on Public Private Partnerships (PPPs), Environment, public policy, governance, education and Urban management. He is a columnist with leading newspapers in the country and has authored over 1000 articles in local dailies.
