Passion: Fostering Circular Solutions for Environmental Sustainability.

Msc-Environmental Science, thesis on assessment of adoption of Circular Economy Principles in Plastic Waste Management in Nairobi Metropolitan Region of Kenya.

Relevant work experience: 
In charge EPR and CE division in NEMA whose main mandate is to create awareness and educate the public on the new regulatory requirements and facilitate regulated community (entities that introduce products to the market) in executing their Extended Producer Responsibility obligations.
Worked in the Waste Management and Plastic Control division in NEMA where my assignment involved promotion of Best Available Technology in waste management, part of oversight team for implementation of  UPOPS  which included  establishment of pollution control measures in Incinerators and  introduction of non-burn technology of medical waste management for Hospitals in Nairobi, Nakuru and Kisumu Counties. Capacity building of actors in waste value chain on sustainable waste management.

Development of policies and legislations. 
National Sustainable Waste Management policy 2021, Sustainable Waste Management Act 2022 and EPR Regulations 2024, draft Material Recovery Facility guidelines and Color codes. 
Review of EMC (waste management) Regulations 2024 and National Solid Waste Management Strategy 2015. Part of taskforce for the development of Guidelines for Integration of waste management in education curriculum of all levels. 
Currently part of multiagency team developing CE policy framework for Kenya financed by UNIDO.

Ongoing assignments:
Facilitation of Counties transition from dumping to sustainable waste management:
Kisii town dumpsite was decommissioned, embraced source segregation of waste, established MRF and have a composting facility for organic waste. Are now drafting the County Sustainable waste Management Policy to domesticate the provisions in the National policy.
Facilitate the five (5) City Counties of Kenya to transition from conventional waste management to sustainable practices.
